Personal intro. I currently run They Shoot Film, a photoblog that is dedicated to sharing personal images from travels and daily life, and I am a partner at The Grand Expanse, a website dedicated to panoramic film images. I am also a contributor at Film Shooters Collective, a worldwide photography group that celebrates film photography.
About the photographs you are sharing with us. This is a short series of photographs from my travels in Norway. We took a boat from Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway where we rented a car and embarked on a road trip through the countryside to Bergen. Norway has been a destination that I’ve been wanting to visit for a while and it turned out to be just a beautiful country. We spent a day hiking to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) in Forsand and got to experience the breathtaking views of Lysefjord from the 2000 foot high cliff. I hope to return some day and complete a road trip through the rest of the country.
What do you want to achieve? It’s been a long term goal of mine to create a book filled with photographs of my travels and experiences. I’ve been building my archive of images and will hopefully be able to fulfill that goal in the near future.
What do you think is the greatest power of photography? I think just sharing your own perspective on life. It’s just really intriguing to me to be able to view things at one fraction of time from someone else’s perspective, and being able to share my view is quite fulfilling as well.
How do you use Lumu? While most of my cameras have internal meters, I’ve been carrying around Lumu to take readings periodically while I am out shooting just to get a better sense of the overall lighting conditions. It gives me reassurance that I’m achieving proper exposure and it allows me greater creative control over my images.
What’s been your greatest accomplishment as a photographer so far? I’ve received some praise and recognition for my work, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be hired to photograph things in far away destinations, but my own personal greatest accomplishment has just been creating a desire within myself to get out into the world and experience it. Photography has helped shape me as a person and has given me that undying drive to go places and explore.
